Bryant Bank would like to congratulate our director Karen Brooks on her election as President Pro Tempore of the University of Alabama Board of Trustees, which oversees the University of Alabama, UAB, University of Alabama Huntsville and the UA Health Services Foundation (University Hospital). Mrs. Brooks is the first woman to serve in the role in the institution’s 183-year history.
She succeeds Bryant Bank Chairman and current UA Board President Pro Tem Paul Bryant Jr., who served three terms as Pro Tem.
“I really want to thank all of you for your vote of confidence. I am extremely humbled by the responsibility,” Brooks said. “I know I have huge shoes to fill, and I am going to do everything I can to get my feet to grow fast.”
A Tuscaloosa native, Mrs. Brooks has a long history of involvement in educational and social service organizations. She is actively involved with the Crimson Tide Foundation and UA Crimson Racket Club. She is a past board member of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, the Mental Health Association, Friends of Bryce, the Good Samaritan Clinic, the United Way of West Alabama, and Tuscaloosa Academy. She is a past chair of the Mother’s March of Dimes for Tuscaloosa County.
