HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – On Wednesday, August 17 the University of Alabama at Huntsville (UAH) RISE School had much to celebrate as they opened their doors to their new location, formerly known as the University Place School on the UAH campus. Bryant Bank also presented the final $25,000 installment from a $100,000 commitment to the school.
“The UAH Rise School provides high quality early childhood education services to infants, toddlers and preschoolers in a developmentally appropriate inclusive environment,” said Dr. Beth Quick, Dean of UAH College of Education. “It serves as a model program for our teacher education candidates, and it’s a wonderful community outreach to parents, children and educators in our area.”
Originally founded as RISE of Huntsville in 2009, the now UAH Rise School follows the same model as the school located in Tuscaloosa, Ala. which is based on integrating children with special needs alongside their typical peers. In September 2014, RISE of Huntsville became a permanent part of the UAH andthe University of Alabama System.
Ken Watson, Bryant Bank Market Leader for Huntsville, has proudly served as a founding board member for the UAH Rise School since its inception in 2009.
This July, the RISE School graduated their first ten children. As a result of the school’s success and community partners, the new location for the UAH Rise School is now home to 55 infant to pre-k children.
“Bryant Bank is committed to empowering the communities in which we live, work and play. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to invest in our communities as a result of our hard work. We understand the importance of education for our children as it relates to their future success and are proud to continue our partnership with the UAH Rise School,” said Ken Watson, Bryant Bank Market President.
