Bryant Bank is excited to announce the addition of Johnny Shunnarah to our Birmingham mortgage team! Johnny joins us as Vice President, Mortgage Loan Officer with 18 years of experience in the mortgage industry. And he’s no stranger to the Magic City, having been born and raised in the Birmingham area and spending his entire professional career here!
We had a chance to ask Johnny some questions for our Bryant Bank Blog so that everyone could get to know him a little better!
Q: What is one of your most memorable moments working in the mortgage industry?
A: I would say the most memorable moments would be and still is; the feeling I get when I tell the borrower that we have final approval and everything is set for them to be a first-time homeowner. The hugs I get at closing are priceless!
Q: What are some fun facts about your family?
A: I come from a very large family. When people used the white pages directory to look up my last name, there would be over 300 Shunnarah families in the Birmingham metro area… and we’re all related!

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies?
A: Playing basketball and poker were two of my favorite things to do in my younger days but now I’d say cooking out on the grill with my family is probably my favorite thing to do. I try to do it every chance I get.
Q: What’s your favorite restaurant in Birmingham?
A: Eating out with my family is one of my favorite things to do but I can’t just pick one. My three favorite restaurants are any Dreamland BBQ, Flemmings at The Summit, and Olive Branch in Cahaba Heights.
Q: What do you love most about the Birmingham community?
A: I have lived in Birmingham my entire life — 50 plus years — with a very large family. I love that I feel connected with local schools and businesses in the Bham area. It almost always seems like when I meet somebody new we have common friends or know some of the same people.
